Aspire Adult Day Services empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve individualized goals, enjoy meaningful and fulfilling activities, and expand community connections. Trained, caring direct support professionals assist each client in setting and reaching personal goals for greater independence. To meet the diverse needs of participants, Aspire provides:
- Activities based on individual abilities and interests that enhance motivation, creative expression and self-esteem
- Medical supervision and access to on-site physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies and audiology services
- Daily interaction with friends and staff members
- Opportunities to explore hobbies and special interests through educational programs, community participation, and fitness and recreation activities
- Wholesome and appropriate nutrition
- Dignified assistance and instruction in feeding, bathing, toileting, dressing, and other activities of daily living
Aspire welcomes more than 50 individuals each weekday 8am-3pm. The majority of Aspire participants reside in Easterseals Rehabilitation Center group homes and their transportation is provided by the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center Transportation Department. Individuals who aren't Easterseals group home residents may also attend Aspire by meeting other guidelines. Aspire staff can assist in determining eligibility.
A variety of engaging activities are offered at the Aspire Day Program. Here are some popular examples:
- Music with Boom Squad
- Community outings
- Church services
- Music therapy
- Music, karaoke and dance activities
- Pet therapy
- Reading activities with area libraries
- Visits from E'ville Iron Street Rod Club
- Opportunities for family connections (holiday luncheons, etc.)
Aspire focuses on empowerment and participants have a voice in selecting program activities A Volunteer Committee of Aspire clients meets with the activity director regularly to discuss monthly activity schedules. The activity director utilizes committee members' ideas to develop the schedule, which is posted in the Aspire program area, sent to participants at home, and provided to parents and guardians.
