The highly specialized field of assistive technology can unlock new levels of independence for individuals with disabilities. As one of the region's few dedicated programs, the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center’s Enabling Technologies team provides innovative, personalized solutions that help people live more independently through the use of assistive technology.
Many adults and children can achieve dreams of living, learning, working, and playing independently. Access to complex rehabilitative and assistive technology services and equipment can turn those dreams into reality.
Living safely, functionally, and comfortably at home is essential. Our experts can evaluate the home environment and recommend modifications ranging from wheelchair ramps and platform lifts to accessible showers, kitchen adaptations, and other changes.
We also visit schools, colleges, and workplaces to assess the need for physical modifications, assistive hardware and software. Evaluations may focus on computer access, environmental controls, low vision aids, ergonomics, and more, based upon each individual’s abilities and goals.
